National Drug Authority (NDA) participated in the registration of a veterinary vaccine submitted under the East African Community (EAC) Mutual Recognition Procedure (MRP)
The Process that resulted in licensing of a vaccine known as Bioral H120 NeO manufactured by Merial, France which will be marketed across all the EAC member countries. The vaccine protects poultry against Infectious Bronchitis.
MRP system overcomes the lengthy, resource-intensive, multiple country registration and often unpredictable process. MRP allows applicants to apply simultaneously for licenses in multiple countries, therefore saving time and allows countries and applicants to use their resources more efficiently and shall ensure sustainable supply of quality-registered vaccines in the region.
Applicants that wish to register vaccines in Uganda only, may continue to use NDA procedure. To date NDA has registered 23 Veterinary vaccines.
