The National Drug Authority (NDA) held a Research Roundtable Discussion on Thursday, 26th February 2026, titled “Protecting innovation in traditional and complementary medicines: The role of patent databases in regulatory practice”. The presentation was delivered by Lumu Bob Rogers, a Senior Registration Officer from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB).
This training served as a critical preparatory step for NDA staff ahead of the official launch of a Technology and Innovation Support Centre (TISC) at the Authority, scheduled for 26th March 2026. By collaborating with URSB, the NDA is enhancing its internal capacity to utilize patent databases and intellectual property tools. These skills are essential for the upcoming TISC to effectively support researchers and innovators in navigating the regulatory and legal landscapes of conventional medicines, traditional medicine and medical devices.
The event took place on the 2nd Floor Boardroom, NDA Tower, and was part of the routine research forum talks organized for continuous knowledge sharing at NDA.
